The Dog Days of Summer!

The first thing Peter does when he gets home is takes Griffin across the street to see (and sometimes touch) dogs, role models of friendliness and loyalty.
This month was all about the push toy. This picture was taken at the beginning of the month when he suddenly had the confidence to push it around without anyone else touching it!
The toy, a 25 cent yard sale find, is shockingly popular with the toddler set at the park who want to relive their "youth"  by pushing it.  By the middle of the month, Griffin made the connection that it is "his" property and stands up to defend his rights to it, even in the face of big two- and three-year olds.

When another kid comes up to it, if he isn't ready to give it up yet, he'll tighten his grip on the bar and get a really determined, serious look on his face.

By the end of the month he is able to steer the toy and not just follow where it leads him.  When he sees people at the park he'll just push his cart right up to them.  Very social little guy!
Griffin loves to "help" around the house.  When mom wants to unload the dishwasher, he comes rushing over.  Here, Daddy is preparing a gate to keep Griffin out of the basement.
Here is Griffin at a fabulous birthday party for Rose Kurland.
Griffin got to spend a little bit of time with his dear old great-grandad, at Easton, Md., for his brother's funeral.  So many people passing away this summer . . .
Griffin loves his Daddy!  He now is fairly consistent with saying "Daddy" when he sees Peter, although sometimes he'll just say "Daddy" when he is happy with something-- like "that is so Daddy!"
